Principal's Message

Mr. Robert Khin, Principal of Bethany High, is a seasoned educationist with over 35 years of dedicated service. Born in the Andaman Islands and part of the Karen community, he began his journey with Bethany as a student in 1963—the year the school was founded.

After graduating from St. Joseph’s College, Bangalore, he returned to Bethany as a PE and Music teacher, later taking time to serve his community in the Andamans as a teacher and social worker. He rejoined Bethany High in 1993, eventually becoming Headmaster and now, Principal.

Known for his warmth, patience, and eye for detail, Mr. Khin is beloved by students and staff alike. His commitment to education and community service has earned him several honours, including the General K.S. Thimayya Medal for Public Service and India’s Most Impactful School Leader 2024.

Beyond school, he remains active in church, NGOs and community service. His inspiring journey is shared in his blog, ‘From the Lighthouse’.

Mrs. Sangeetha Macaden, Principal of Bethany High Sarjapur has a diverse professional background spanning over 21 years—including six years in the corporate sector and 15 years in education. Her journey in the academic field began in the classroom, teaching young learners. Over time, she has grown into various leadership roles that reflect her deep passion for student-centred learning and holistic education.

Her academic qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (B.Com), a Bachelor’s in Education (B.Ed), a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and a Master’s in English Literature (M.A), along with a Diploma in Montessori Teaching. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Education Administration and Leadership. This strong and varied academic foundation has shaped her progressive and comprehensive approach to education.

At Bethany, Mrs Sangeetha has served in key positions such as Head of Department at Bethany Junior School–HSR Layout, and later as Headmistress at Bethany High Sarjapur. In her current role as Principal, she brings an innovative outlook, compassion, and a deep commitment to excellence.

Ms. Shanti Gnanaolivu, Principal of the Bethany Special School, began her teaching career in 1970 after studying at the Women’s Christian College, Chennai. She did her Teacher’s training program at St. Mary’s Training College, Pune. After working in three regular schools in Mussoorie, Ooty and Virudhunagar, a total of 10 ½ years, she pursued her Special Education Course at Bangalore and worked in the MarThoma Opportunity School for 20 years.

She helped to start a Special School in Al Ain U.A.E. Before joining Bethany Special School in 2004, she and her friend started a center for School dropouts.

Ms. Gnanaolivu has been heading the Special School for the past twenty years and believes that each child is unique and capable of becoming an independent, confident adult who will contribute to the society. Her focus is on the holistic development of children under her care.
