A Principal Who Grew With Bethany – Mr Robert Khin

Robert Khin

When you step onto the Koramangala campus, you will almost certainly be greeted by a warm smile and a gentle “How are you, child?” from Mr Robert Khin, Principal of Bethany High. His connection to the school runs deeper than any title: he first walked through Bethany’s gates in 1963 as a shy six-year-old student, the very year the institution was founded. Today, with 35 years of devoted service in education, Mr Khin embodies the school’s enduring spirit of compassion, excellence and community.

A Journey Rooted in Service

Born in the Andaman Islands and proud of his Karen heritage, Mr Khin graduated from St Joseph’s College, Bengaluru, before returning to Bethany as both Physical Education and Music teacher. His career then took him back to the islands, where he taught and spearheaded social work projects for underserved communities. In 1993 he rejoined Bethany, ascending from teacher to Headmaster and, ultimately, Principal.

Leadership with Heart

Students describe Mr Khin as patient, perceptive, and meticulous —an educator who celebrates every child’s unique gifts. Under his stewardship, Bethany continues to achieve 100 per cent ICSE pass rates, expand its performing arts programmes, and nurture state- and national-level sports talent. He champions the belief that academic rigour is meaningful only when paired with empathy, integrity and service.

Honours & Outreach

For his exemplary dedication, Mr Khin has received the General K. S. Thimayya Medal for Public Service and was named India’s Most Impactful School Leader 2024. Outside school hours, he remains deeply involved in church ministries, NGOs and youth upliftment initiatives, living proof of Bethany’s motto, “Impart knowledge without discrimination.”

Guiding Philosophy

“At Bethany, we believe that education is not just about marks and medals, but about becoming the best version of yourself. So dream big, work hard, and remember that every effort you put in today is a step toward the future you envision. Don’t be afraid of challenges—they are opportunities in disguise. Embrace them with courage and confidence. A kind word, a helping hand, or a simple smile can change someone’s day—and yours too. In a world that often celebrates being bold and brash, remember that true strength lies in being gentle, thoughtful, and kind. Set personal goals, try something new, be intentional in your actions, and never forget that your attitude makes all the difference. The entire staff at Bethany are here to support you every step of the way.”
