Pre-Primary & Primary School – Where the Bethany Journey Begins
Just a hop across the road from the main campus, Bethany’s Pre-Primary Department (Pre-Nursery, Nursery, Junior 1 & Std 1) is a cheerful haven where tiny Bethanites take their first steps in uniform. Welcoming music, circle-time chats, and play-based lessons build language, numeracy, and social confidence in an atmosphere that feels more like family than school. Specialist teachers for music, movement, art and conversation classes ensure multiple-intelligence exposure, while a dedicated Resource Centre offers one-to-one support for children who need an extra nudge.
From Rhythm-and-Rhyme and Grandparents’ Day to a much-loved Sports Day, every themed celebration is planned to spark curiosity and stage presence early. As Head of Department, Mrs Bharati Ponnapa says, “A happy child is the best learner.” Assistant HOD Mrs Smitha Oommen adds the warmth that turns each morning greeting into a fist-bump and a story shared.
Moving up, the Primary School (Grades 2-5) eases pupils from guided exploration to budding independence. Core academics are balanced with weekly periods for Library, Music, art, PE, Computer, and Language, plus Abacus and a structured reading programme. Four formative assessments keep learning bite-sized; those who need reinforcement visit the Learning Lab and LEAP specialists. Field trips, monthly competitions and class assemblies give every child a stage, while counsellors remain on call for emotional support.
The Pre-Primary is guided by Mrs. Bharati Ponnappa, a veteran with 46 years of experience whose belief that “a happy child is the best learner” shapes every classroom. The Primary Department is led by Mrs. Mona Ryall, with over 30 years of teaching, inspiring young learners with warmth, clarity, and vision.
Whether it’s cut-and-paste crafts in Kindergarten or the first Class Assembly speech in Grade 5, Bethany Koramangala’s early years pathway lays firm foundations in literacy, numeracy, creativity, and character, preparing children to spread their wings through the middle and high school years ahead.
