Craft
Our craft unit is a cluster for many activities like diya making, painting, pottery, candle making and cross stitch to name a few. All our children are involved in various stages of making each of these items.
Empowering children with unique abilities through inclusive, personalized education since 1983.
At Bethany Special School, we are dedicated to empowering children with unique abilities. The school began in 1983 under the supervision of Dr. SL Kashiram, and since then we have been committed to providing a holistic education that recognizes and nurtures the unique potential of each child. As one of the best special schools in Bangalore, our mission is to create an inclusive space where children with special needs can thrive.
Each child has an Individual Education Plan (IEP) formulated by the Principal at the beginning of the academic year. Assessments are done twice a year, with reports shared with parents during Parent-Teacher meetings. Children are also given Speech and Occupational Therapy where required.
The school works from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Some children are taken to the Aero Fitness Centre for aerobics, and all are exposed to dance and singing for a richer, well-rounded learning experience.

A range of vocational and therapeutic programs designed to help every child grow in confidence, skill and independence.

Started in January 2004, our fully equipped bakery unit trains children in vocational activities like shaping biscuits, maintaining a clean environment and hygienic packing. Products include bread, buns, pav, dinner rolls, biscuits, cakes, birthday cakes, puffs (egg and veg), doughnuts and muffins — popular with staff, well-wishers and corporates.
Our qualified occupational therapist, Mrs. Devikala, works closely with our children, bringing expertise and warmth to every session. The unit has ample scope for further expansion.
One big loom, two small looms and two frames make foot mats, while three sewing machines let our older girls stitch jute bags, aprons and kitchen napkin edges. Children learn weaving, rolling, cutting, sequencing and stitching.
Licensed speech therapy professionals from the Dr. S. R. Chandrasekhar Institute of Speech and Hearing visit Bethany Special School to provide hands-on coaching to students who need it.

At Bethany Special School, our goal is to help our children live lives just like any other. We teach them to become independent so that fending for themselves is no longer a challenge.
We believe in the power of God’s unique gifts to each one of us — and at Bethany we aim to help every child discover this Gift from God.
