1. WHAT DO YOU STUDY IN ISC ECONOMICS?

In grade 11, students study:

• What Economics is about- its scope of the study, types of economies, problems faced by various economies and solutions to them
• A detailed study on the various aspects of the Indian Economy – the Indian Agriculture sector, Liberalization, Privatization, Globalization, Human Capital Formation, Sustainable Development, Economic Growth, and Development.
• Statistics – topics dealt here are the various methods of data collection, organization, and its presentation, measures of central tendency (mean, median, and mode) measure of dispersion, correlation, index numbers, and mathematical tools.

In grade, 12:
The subjects are divided into microeconomics (various concepts studied using graphs), and macroeconomics (Public finance, National income, Money, Banking, and so on.)

2. IS IT CHALLENGING TO DO ECONOMICS WITHOUT A GOOD MATH BASE?

Students who do well in math will find ISC Economics easy to comprehend and score well. Even if a child is weak in math, he/she can do well provided he/she is ready to study regularly and willing to work hard. It is essential to get a good hold on a thorough understanding of the various concepts in the syllabus. 

3. HOW IS THE TESTING FOR THE SUBJECT IN BETHANY/ BOARD?

In grade 11, students have two rounds of unit tests carrying 50 marks each, a term exam for 100 marks, and an annual exam conducted by the board. The allocation of marks is 80 marks theory and 20 marks for project work. Two projects, each carrying 10 marks, should be done by the students under the guidance of the subject teacher. In grade 12, students have two rounds of weekly tests, each carrying 25 marks, a term exam, a preparatory exam, and a model exam each for 100 marks and finally the board exam conducted by the board. Two projects [20 marks 10 +10] should be done by each student to be evaluated by the subject teacher and an external evaluator who would also conduct a viva for the same.

INTRODUCTION TO THE SUBJECT OF PSYCHOLOGY

Psychology is the scientific discipline of the mind, brain, and behaviour.

In ISC Psychology the course will help a student to develop an understanding of human behaviour, the nature of individuals and of the members of social groups and this turn will guide them in comprehending the psychological terms and practices relating to the chapters on emotions, learning, attention, and perceptions, memory, methods in psychology, thinking, creativity, problem-solving.

Students will also be given to study abnormal psychology topics, psychological disorders, and the applications of psychology and fields along with theories and approaches.

WHY SHOULD ONE STUDY PSYCHOLOGY?

• Psychology is studied because some students may be interested in contributing to new knowledge to the discipline, such as answering questions about how the brain works.
• Psychology is studied because some students have the drive to provide services to individuals or groups based upon psychological science such as being a clinical psychologist, counselling psychologists, school counsellors or a consultant to improve organizational and workplace life.

 WHAT IS THE EXAMINATION PATTERN FOR PSYCHOLOGY?

• Along with the theory of the subject, pupils will have a practical orientation for a better understanding and exposure in the field of psychology for the 11th standard.
• The question paper pattern consists of 70 marks for theory and 30 marks for practical examination.

Yes. The ISC Board expects good lengthy answers in detail, which should be relevant and well explained.

2. HOW CAN I APPLY SOCIOLOGICAL PRINCIPLES IN MY REAL-LIFE EXPERIENCES?

To a certain extent, we could apply it, and this can also vary from an individual point of view, and thus is very individualized. 

3. IS THIS SUBJECT LIKE HISTORY AND GEOGRAPHY?

This subject deals with people in different societies, the problems people face in society, customs, and rituals they follow. It has nothing to do with History and Geography. 

4. WHAT IS THE MARKING PATTERN FOR SOCIOLOGY?

 This is purely a theory subject.

 1. WHY DO WE INCLUDE P.E. IN THE SCHOOL CURRICULUM?

P.E. is an essential learning experience. It is an essential part of whole-person development and “educates students through physical activities”. P.E. helps students pursue an active and healthy lifestyle, develops generic skills, and nurtures positive values and attitudes. It educates students to be responsible citizens and contributing members of society. AND

It’s an easy subject for scoring and not to burden the students.

2. WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN P.E. AND SPORT?

P.E. helps students develop related skills, knowledge, and attitudes for leading and enjoying an active and healthy lifestyle, as well as confidence and competence through facing challenges in a wide range of activities. The six strands in the P.E. curriculum are Motor and Sports Skills, Health and Fitness, Sport-related Values and Attitudes, Knowledge and Practice of Safety, Knowledge of Movement, 

 Sport refers to an institutionalized game. A. Theory paper will be for 70 marks, and practical work will be for 30 marks.

A. All practices will be done during P.E. class hours. 

P.E. practical’s is for 30 marks, and we have an external examiner for the board exam

A. Practical’s is not difficult for the students as training will be given to improve progressively, but being medically fit is essential.
