The Bethany Special School began in 1983. It was a part of the Main school building till 2002, when it was moved to the present premises in S. T. Bed. We now have 68 students on roll. These children are divided into eight classes, according to their chronological age and ability. In the classroom children are taught functional academics, language and communication skills, social skills, ADL skills (Activities of Daily Living), gross and fine motor skills, prevocational and vocational skills. They also attend computer classes twice a week. Each child has an IEP (Individual Education Plan) formulated by the Principal at the beginning of the academic year. Assessments are done thrice a year. Reports are given to the parents during the Parent Teacher meetings. Children are also given Speech and Occupational Therapy if required. The school works from 8.30 am to 3 pm from Monday to Friday.

Vishesh Milan” as the name implies, is a special gathering of special people from special schools in Bangalore. They have an opportunity to show case their skills in the field of music, dance and drama.
Vishesh Milan is the brain child of Mr.Akash Ryall, the dynamic Director of Bethany High School. He felt that it is important and necessary for children from different special schools in our city to have a common platform where they can compete by show casing their talents. The maiden event was held in 2000 at the Bethany High School auditorium. Now it is a regular event, held every year and looked forward to by other schools. The children of Bethany Special School participate but do not compete.
Participating schools are given a set of rules and regulations which are followed. The competition is judged very fairly by judges who do not belong to any special school. There is a rolling trophy for the “best” institution. The winners of first, second and third places are given cups. Each participant is given a gift and goes back fling a winner. Snacks are also served.
